As a follow up on my recent entry
Workers Despair Expressed in One Graph, here is a link to a few
graphs and tables illutrating deepening income inequalities in the U.S. It's pretty symptomatic of the problems the U.S. economy faces today. Although it is still possible to climb the socio-economic ladder in America, society is becoming much more stratified. To a certain extent, this recent social metamorphosis is probably unavoidable as we emphasis more and more competition and efficiency. However, our institutions have to be able to adapt to his new world to ensure access to opportunities to all. Whatever people make of it after is another story.
